Masters of Public Policy and Administration

The Kabul University MPPA program is an initiative of the Higher Education Project, HEP, to create a sustainable, accredited, Masters of Public Policy and Administration degree for Afghanistan. The curriculum and policies are in the process of being redesigned by an academic committee from Kabul University and an international team of graduate program specialists. The groundwork for this degree is expected to be complete by the end of 2011 and classes should begin in the first term of 2012.
The purpose of this group is to create an awareness of the Kabul University MPPA program and to assist in expanding the MPPA program to other universities in Afghanistan. The MPPA Masters Board Committee welcomes contacts from parties who are interested in teaching in the MPPA program or would like to assist in other ways.
The Higher Education Project (HEP) will assist Kabul University in establishing the Graduate Studies Center as a mechanism for providing a home for the MPPA degree as well as serving as a coordination body for all of the other graduate degree programs at Kabul University. The purpose of the Graduate Studies Center will be to standardize degree requirements, entrance procedures, faculty credentials, advising procedures, and to provide quality assurance oversight for all graduate programs at KU.
HEP is also overseeing the creation of a new Bachelors of Public Administration Degree program at five regional universities in Afghanistan: Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar and Kabul University.
Chancellor Hamidullah Amin from Kabul University and Deputy Minister Babury are both strong supporters of the redesigned MPPA program and are looking forward to receive next year the first cohort of students.
