The Parwan Pedagogy Institute, established in 1999, has been transformed into a four year degree program since then. Reestablished in 2006, the institute is named Institute of Higher Education and has the following 10 departments: Dari, English, France, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, History, Geography, and Islamic Culture. The Institute is staffed by 43 lecturers who serve 1896 male and female students.

 

In July 2009 the Higher Education Project (HEP) established a Professional Development Center (PDC) to accomplish the following goals:

 

1) Improving preparation of teachers at Afghan faculties of education in universities and in 4-year teacher training institutes; and

2) Improving administrative in policy of frame work to sustain quality teaching, learning, and culture of excellence.
