Traditional Teaching/Learning Activities Traditional Teaching/Learning Activities While the Training and Professional Development streams courses emphasizes ‘active’ and participatory learning, we recognize that there are many times when traditional teaching/learning activities such as lecturing and asking/answer questions can and should be used. In addition to providing the theoretical background to make lectures and asking/answering questions more effective in the classroom, this course will focus on providing teachers with the skills to * Decide when and for what types of learning goals lecturing can be used most appropriately to address * Take course lecture content and organize this material for greater efficiently and impact * Select and use examples, demonstrations and other methods to make their lectures come alive for their students * Design and use small activities to enhance lecture content, to engage the students in learning and applying the lectures main points and to keep students’ attention focused * Ask students questions and answer student questions on lecture content more effectively |
